The XRAI desktop app captions and translates on a Windows PC or a Mac. Use it to caption a meeting room through the computer's microphone, or, on a Mac, the sound the computer is playing, such as a video call, a webinar or a film.

Install the app
Windows
- Download XRAIInc.XRAIGlass-win-Setup.exe with the button above.
- Open the file. The installer sets up XRAI Glass for your Windows account and opens it.
- Next time, open XRAI Glass from the Start menu.
Mac
- Download XRAIInc.XRAIGlass-osx-Setup.pkg with the button above.
- Open the file and follow the installer.
- Open XRAI Glass with Spotlight or Launchpad.
The desktop app keeps itself up to date: when a new version is out it downloads it and installs it the next time the app starts.
Sign in
Sign in with the same account you use on your phone: Apple, Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn or Microsoft 365. Sign in the same way you do there, so the desktop app uses the same plan, Pro minutes and settings.

Choose what to caption
Tap Settings on the conversation screen, then the Audio tab, and choose the source:
- The computer's microphone, or a USB or Bluetooth microphone plugged into it, to caption people in the room. An external microphone near the speaker gives better captions than a laptop's built-in one.
- System Audio, on a Mac with macOS 14.2 or later, to caption what the computer is playing. The first time, macOS asks to let XRAI record the screen and system audio: allow it, or turn it on later in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording.

If something isn't working
- No captions. Check the source on the Audio tab, and that the computer allows XRAI to use the microphone: on a Mac in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone, on Windows in Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone.
