The XRAI Translation app for Microsoft Teams shows the captions and translations from the XRAI desktop app to everyone in a Teams meeting. The organiser runs XRAI on their computer; the other attendees open XRAI Translation in the meeting to read along.
What you need
- The XRAI desktop app on the computer you join the meeting from, signed in and running. See Use XRAI on a Windows PC or Mac.
- The XRAI Translation app added to your organisation's Teams. If you can't find it under Apps in a meeting, ask your Teams administrator.
Start captions in a meeting
- Check that XRAI is running on your computer. On Windows, its icon is in the system tray. If it isn't running, open XRAI Glass from the Start menu.
- Join the meeting a few minutes before it starts and click Apps in the meeting controls.
- Search for XRAI and click XRAI Translation.
- Click Save. If XRAI Translation says Please make sure a desktop version of XRAI is running, start the desktop app and click Retry.
- In the XRAI Translation panel, choose the languages to caption and translate.
- Click Start Stream. Captions start for everyone who opens XRAI Translation. Click Stop Stream to stop them.
For attendees
- Click XRAI Translation at the top of the meeting window to open the captions panel.
- Until the organiser starts the stream, the panel shows that it is waiting for them.
- If attendees don't see XRAI Translation, the organiser can share the panel to the meeting stage with the Share button at the top of the panel.
By default only people in the meeting can open the captions. The Require users are in meeting option, shown when you add the app, controls this.
